Milky Way near Deneb. Taken August 13 2005 with Nikon D100 50mm f1.8 Nikkor lens, Eight 30 second exposures median stacked in Iris. The median stack doesn't add exposure time, but it does help suppress noise. North is up. The Perseids were not spectacular, but the Milky way was worth staying up all night for.

I wasn't able to photograph Mars most of July while on vacation. There are some changes since then. The south polar cap has shrunk significantly since July 11 and at Mars' larger apparent size you can see more detail. Solis Lacus is at the upper left. The darkest spot on the right is Mare Sirenum coming into view. The two dark brown spots at the bottom are interesting. The one furthest down seems to be near the map position of Olympus Mons.
